2016 - Sigma Delta Pi presented its annual "Noche de Tapas"! Officers and sponsor of the Omega Gamma chapter cooked traditional "tapas españolas" for current Sigma Delta Pi members and students in general. Conversations in Spanish were taking place and many new friendships were created that night, while everyone enjoyed learning and tasting a little bit of the culture of Spain!

2016 - Hispanos Unidos, which is a student organization founded in 1991 by a group of concerned students whose purpose was to provide representation and inclusion for Hispanic students, had their annual event called "Entra a la Plaza." While celebrating their 25th anniversary, Hispanos Unidos sponsors and officers worked with Sigma Delta Pi adviser, officers, and members to set up and invite people to rejoice the Hispanic culture! Everyone enjoyed a night of dancing, performances, face painting, and traditional food!

2016 - The Grace Museum hosted a night of poetry, where Sigma Delta Pi officers and members participated and promoted the "Seamos Amables Unos Con Otros" campaign. Poems like "Puedo Escribir los Versos Mas Tristes Esta Noche", "Poema VI", and "Como era España" by the Chilean author Pablo Neruda & "Caminante no hay Camino" and "Cantares" by the Spanish author Antonio Machado were read both in Spanish and English. Several people heard these beautiful poetry from Hispanic authors and learned more about the Hispanic culture from both Spain and Latin America!

Velada Poética
2016 - Sigma Delta Pi had its initiation ceremony, where several students were now officially part of the Omega Gamma chapter for Sigma Delta Pi at Abilene Christian University! Elena Rhodes was the speaker for this lovely evening, where she talked about the benefits and advantages of being a bilingual speaker and a bicultural person. Our wonderful and special guest was the lieutenant of the ACU Police Department, Randy Motz. Our officers and adviser celebrated their hard work and through our campaign called "Seamos Amables Unos Con Otros", they put together two enormous baskets of goods for them! After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed delightful evening with punch and cake!
